    • (Research):Arthur attended the state school in Ferntree Gully until the age of 14 or 15 and played cricket with his Father and older Brothers with the Scoresby Cricket Club. He continued to work on the family farm for a few more years after leaving school, then started a poultry operation on part of the original farm. Arthur was considered, by many, to be a very innovative poultry farmer, being interviewed several times by various poultry trade magazines and gave talks to groups of agricultural students on several occasions.
At its peak the Johnson Poultry Farm was a very large operation having several employees. The farm had 5 big sheds, each of which was 300' long, 30' wide and 8' high plus other outbuildings. The brooder house alone could handle 5000 chicks at one time. He not only sold to the Australian market but also sold extensively throughout the Middle East and Ceylon.
Arthur and his wife met at a local weekly dance at Scoresby and both were considered excellent dancers.
All of his life Arthur was considered an artistic and cultured person and was respected as a truegentleman. He was very different from his brothers and more like his father, Samuel Arthur.
Arthur is buried with his wife at Rc a, Row 7 #13, Ferntree Gully,Victoria, Australia.
